1- What are some of the definitions of terrorism? What is its main goal ? - Terrorism in the modern sense is violence or other harmful acts committed (or threatened) against civilians for political or other ideological goals. Most definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear or "terror", are done for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately disregard the safety of civilians.. - Terrorism ultimately involves the use or threat of violence with the aim of creating fear not only to the victims but among a wide audience; it is fear which distinguishes terrorism from both conventional and guerrilla warfare. Their goals: 1- To win sympathizers for terrorist’s cause and increase their following. 2- To cause their enemy’s leaders to fall upon their own swords, so to speak, in the eyes of the people. 3- To force a government to the bargaining table (that is, those who have an agenda they want to achieve, and who use terrorism to force those in power to listen). For these people, it's essential to take credit for an attack because that's how you achieve your goal. 4- Those whose goal is to disrupt or destroy the government, who would just as soon not take credit publicly. 5- To impress people who agree with the terrorists, causing such people to give the terrorists support and money. Every time a particular organization can do something effective, I bet it brings more people and funding to their cause. 6- Some have even claimed that terrorism groups are driven by hatred of modernization and the freedom represented. ********************************* 2- What conditions are usually present to lead to the emergence of terrorism ? 1- Analysts of terrorism often see injustice and a low standard of living as two of the main elements behind modern terrorism. 2- A sense of injustice became acute among some citizens for a number of reasons. As a result of errors made during privatization, the bulk of what was once national property fell into the hands of top officials , representatives of organized crime and others, while the vast majority of the population was affected of its unfair share. 3- The need for real democratic freedoms where every one is able to say what he wants without being under the risk. 4- the quest for political power driven by the self-interests of certain sectors of society or groups and attempts to maintain the life of existing power structures by any means, including restricting freedom of speech and independent political activity, bringing criminal actions against political opponents, and preventing potential contenders for power from being politically active, are viewed unfavorably. 5- The ultimate goal of the terrorists-make no mistake-is to "Islamize the world"- establish Shariah, create a society under their narrow interpretation. 6- There is abundant evidence that certain governments support, or otherwise fund these movements, the connection may not be strong enough. 3- Some countries are trying to protect themselves from being under colonialism and they have the right to do that. ********************************* 4- Historically, has terrorism always been present in the world, or is it a recent phenomenon? Terrorism is not a new phenomenon or threat to human history, but it was not as much as it is in today's life may be because there are many things in the modern life caused it. ******************************** 5- What psychological factors might contribute to a person becoming involved in terrorism? 1- Terrorism is rooted in poverty and inequality. 2- Personality problems I mean the personalities of terrorists contradict prevalent social values. 3- Attacking their own culture would hurt many of them, so they tried to revenge from those who hurt them ********************************* 6-Do you think that instances of terrorism in the world will continue to increase? - I think whenever and wherever we get despotism, inequity, wrong, and injustice in our society we will have this type of people and they may increase in the future whether they are right or wrong they are existed on our life and we have to find reasonable ways to solve this big problem. 7- What are the implications for ordinary people living in a world with terrorism as a growing threat? - It have unleashed an epidemic of stress-related mental health, substance abuse, and stress-related medical problems upon the people who effected directly by the terrorism operations. - many experts expect a radical increase in the number of people experiencing serious problems with alcohol, prescription, react ional drugs, mental health problems, and stress-related medical problems. This could result in higher than expected costs for addiction, mental health, and health-care services that can further strain an already ailing economy. ********************************* ,Best regard متـحـمـس |
